I can't recall many, but there was the Russian film called Stalingrad, but I don't remember it. Probably your best bet would be in finding the movie called Soldaty (Soldiers), based on a very good and popular book by Victor Nekrasov called V Okopakh Slaningrada (In the Trenches of Stalingrad)... but finding it will probably be very difficult. There was also a monumental mini-series called Osvobozhdenie (Liberation) and I think there was the episode on Stalingrad, but I am not 100% sure.

Follow Ups:
For some reason there are none good movies about it. No idea why.

I am ambivalent about it, as it was made in 1959... well, on one hand it was years of propaganda, on the other - the Khruschev's thaw.Remember, it was 1959 when Solzhenitsyn finished his One Day in Life of Ivan Denisovich.
So it could go either way.

For some reason it did not strike me as a GOOD movie. Maybe I am wrong.

Thanks---I will seek out Soldaty---I don't know why it hadn't occured to me before now to ask about Stalingrad. It seems obvious that the Russians would have committed it to film somewhere down the line...

I checked several Russian sources... nada.

I've been doing searches---couldn't find anything for sale. How hard do you think it would be to find in Russia? I have a friend going over soon...

Hard to tell. The sources I checked are usually very well stocked, and probably reflect what is available in Russia, so the fact the film is not there doesn't give me much hope. I will be there in October and will check it out.Do you speak Russian?

I struggle with it, but I'm trying to learn. I understand a lot more than I can say. And, if I cross my eyes, I can sometimes read it :)

Well then, definitely ask your friend, and I will look too, and if one of us finds it let's share.

If you manage to find it, please let me know, as I would love to have it too.In the meantime I will search the Russian sources... they would probably have it on a VCD, except of course it would not have the subs.
