In Reply to: Gladiator-Getting good reviews? posted by Ears on May 05, 2000 at 13:12:16:
I saw Gladiator Saturday. Based on the reviews, my expectations were high, but I was very disappointed. On the plus side, they pulled the re-hashed plot off well, and the actors were all pretty good. I was indifferent to the CGI. It looked okay within the context of the film. On the minus side, the movie seemed to drag, the SPR-type battle sequences just didn't work for Roman battles, and there were tons of military inaccuracies. The movie tried to be stylish, but instead looked lame and trendy. The music was not only bad, but inappropriate. Gladiator will be very dated in a few years. The audience seemed to love the movie, however. Gladiator is inferior to Braveheart in every way, and it can't even be mentioned in the same breath along with Spartacus, Ben Hur, or Fall of the Roman Empire.
Justin: I agree with you 100%, Gladiator was easily bested by films like, er, well....."Dumb and Dumber".. Greg
If you are saying Dumb and Dumber is better than Gladiator they should change the D&D title to Greg and Gregger.how about the wedding singer?
happy gilmore?you're only young once
