The Mission: Hong Kong crime boss, Mr. Lung, nearly gets assasinated in a resturant. Alarmed at the attempt he hires on five of HK's top guns. An ecletic collection of strong silent types that are all bidness. Great gun battles and action. Catchy fusion/electronic score and nice twist in the plot. Asian crimes offers a whole new level of violence compared to Brit Crime. Go for it.Evil Dead Trap: Those guys from Tokyo are somehow able to transcribe their nightmares directly to film. They are often amazing. It seems that a late night show hostess gets a video tape of a brutal torture-murder of a young woman. This gets her attention. Surprised? So, a jolly band of four women and one clutzy guy trace the location down to an abandoned USA air base. This is where the creepiness begins and people start dying horribly. Reminiscent of "chainsaw" in structure, it touches on gore our industry doesn't bother with--like eyeballs. (Ok, so Tarantino used it.) No so recommended but if you like Nipponese film it's worth a spin.

Re: The Mission..good suggestion on your part, I think, and good antidote for anyone looking for an 'anti-Woo' shoot out, HK style. Love that football with the tinfoil ball scene! Johnny To and Co. have been responsible for some of the more consistently interesting police procedural/crime films coming out of HK in a while. Have you seen 'Longest Nite (sic)','PTU' and 'Breaking News'?
