I bought the DVD and am somewhat dissapointed in the soundtrack. I was expecting the bass especially to be of, well, better quality and feel from memory as though the VHS version actually was better. Comments on the LD (not that I have a player)?
As for the movie, I've always liked it.![]()

Follow Ups:
The CAV laserdisc is in stereo but I play it through a Dolby Pro Logic II codec which derives a five channel surround mix. I think the sound is terrific.By the way, I recently did an extensive comparison of all the surround modes in my NAD pre/pro. I prefer DTS 5.1 for material recoded in 5.1 (actually the NAD superimposes a 6.1 mix in that setting) but I prefer the Pro Logic II codec over its DTS Neo 6 counterpart (each derives a multi channel mix from ordinary stereo).
I use Pro Logic II Music for all stereo material, LPs, tapes, FM , laserdiscs, and those DVDs and hi def broadcasts which are in two channel Dolby Digital. My collections have taken on a new life.
