What exactly is this guys profession?
Yeah, I know he host Inside The Actors Studio...but what is he?...an actor?
...an acting teacher?
...founded the actors studio? (all three?)Curious because I know nothing about him, but I do like the show he host. He seems to put every guest on a pedestal, but....let me put it this way....It almost seems like the guest should be honored to be in HIS presence.
I like him, but he comes across a bit pompous...am I reading him wrong?

RC,Check him out at imdb.com. Lipton is much older than I originally thought...and he has show biz chops that go back to the 1950's...Broadway, soap operas, musical scores, etc. He was once married to imo a pretty good actress-Nina Foch (MY NAME IS JULIA ROSS).
I agree with your assessment of him, but I like his interviews none-the-less.
