I hadn't seen this since "Show me the money!" was on everyone's lips years ago so I dug it out last night to give it a looksee. Tom Cruise and Rene Zelwigger star, he as big league athlete manager whose career is in a tailspin becuse of a mission ststement he wrote and distributed to all in his firm, she as an employee who quits to become his assistant when he is fired. Down to one client, Cuba Gooding, Cruise tries to restart his career.
Follow Ups:
Certainly not worthy of the best oscar nomination it received, but I did enjoy the film. A fun, energetic experience. Good performances.

The way Jerry was reamed by his partner and by his star Q'back's dad, "We don't need to sign anything, my word is stronger than oak", and "we signed with the other agent while you were down there cavorting with the colored guy" pretty good stuff. "Shoplifting the pooty"? Classic. Great chemistry w/Zeilwegger and her first role or at least her breakout role. And her son was priceless. Cuba Gooding and his wife very interesting characters, altho his "softie" personna at the end was predictable. Thought he gave at least a little insight into the "petulant" athelete. Kelly Preston, tho she didn't have many lines, was excellent and a real scene stealer, "I want you to keep phucking me forever!!" OK. Sign me up for Preston duty.

I was lucky - I saw it on the plane. Even there it was a snoozer.
