Sure works well on the big screen. Beautifully photographed, fine score, good performances-or should I say, "star turns." Pollack makes that style of soapy Hollywood flash. Won a lot of Academy awards too. Couldn't find much to fault in the film, except that, like most movies, it's meant to be reviewed on its big screen merits. One of Oscars must have been in the "total pompous crap" category. Looks like our mileage varied.
