I didn't think that anyone could make a worse sci fi movie than "Robinson Crusoe on Mars" but here is one. One of the characters is even named "Bowman" in a nod to "2001". Well folks, this ain't no "2001". A polluted Earth send astronauts to the red planet to see if humans could live there, with predictable life threatening glitches and robotic malfunctions. I caught it on cable and stayed with it. Wahat a wastes of time and Val Kimer's (limited) talent.

I am the only person that I know that likes "Red Planet"--it is a joke amongst my film loving co-workers and I

Yes the Doc Holiday was pretty good, and as the knob in Top Gun. Red Planed actually kept my attention though. My only problem was the obviously CGI robot chasing them around.

I thought it was rather silly, and played rather cheeky by Kilmer. I saw this on the heels of Armageddon, which I thought to lack any originality. So I thought that Red Planet played well by comparison. At least it had some originality in it's body.I thought Kilmer was great in Tombstone, very good in The Doors, Wonderland, and The Missing. I have found his work to elevate the material, meaning that even in bad films, which he has certainly done, he is able to create a character. In better films, he is able to stand out from the other players. There were other good performances in Tombstone, The Doors, and Wonderland. But his is the performance that people remember.

More seriously, he created a character for the ages in "Tombstone" with his portrayal of Doc Haliday. The line "Ahhhm in mahh prahmmm" is immortal, and quite rightly so.
(He was damn good in "Heat," as well, though anyone that'd willingly leave Ashley is a bit thick).

Salton was a tough, but rewarding watch. As gritty as films come with quite a few surprises. Kilmer may not have been perfect for the part, prolly a little due to being cast against type (how could the perfect fighter jockey be a meth freak?) but I thought he did a very difficult part justice. As for Top Secret, a longtime personal fav of mine and Kilmer was perfect in his role. Pre teen maternity department anyone?

..lemme think, er...hang on, it'll come...
The Doors?

Real Genius, IMHO the best 80's "teen movie." Actually goes into laser theory fairly accuratly. He also gets some of the best one-liners ever.Professor Hathaway: I want to see more of you around the lab.
Chris Knight: Fine. I'll gain weight.Heat, not a lot of talking, or screen time, but not bad.
Spartan, not bad, but then again it's Mamet, Jennifer Lopez would sound good with those lines.

He played Doc Holliday. As I recall Kilmer lost weight to recreate Holliday's rail - thin, consumption - wracked figure. Kilmer played Holliday as a somewhat flamboyant character which is historically accurate according to John Myers Myers' biography.
