1958 made picture. The same touch as the later " My fair Lady " basically a very simillary story but based on a " Colette " book.
The songs are sketches from the later to be a magnifiscent film with A. Hebpurn.
Very French and almost a little Lubitsch as for the spirit.
If you want to fully appreciate the Cukor film, you have to watch this one!

Follow Ups:
never understood the need to glorify a "hooker" in song....I have always found the story boring and the stardom of Maurice Chevalier puzzling...I do however love Leslie Caron and one of my favorite films with Caron is Daddy Long Legs... Caron with Astaire is one of the best dance partners he ever had....they were extremely fluid as was revealed in their performances in the film....

A hooker is a prostitute? Well you may counfound it with the word " courtisane " which is dearly not the same.
Maurice Chevalier fits well in this role. But he certainly was a not very enjoyable person in real life. He commit suicide.
The film of course is really not good. But it has his charms.
Louis Jourdan was nice and in real life a fighter against the Nazis.
As fo LC I never like her apparence...
So every one his own taste...
