  ...that I didn't really like. Even his Perceval film, though very stylized, won me over big time.

  I think he's one of the greats, even though his tend to be very talky.

  It's one of Rohmer's best, along with Claire's Knee and Le Rayon vert (The Green Ray) .

  Criterion acquired the rights to Maud a while ago, along with some other Rohmers. These forthcoming editions will put to shame the poor editions released years ago by Fox Lorber.

  I agree. This is a truly great film. Intelligent dialogue written for adults, not 13 year old girls. (Unfortunately, it is difficult to imagine a Hollywood film discussing the philosophy of Pascal). Understated acting, not bombastic bellowing of the kind meant to draw the attention of Academy voters. And also a feature of all Rohmer movies: no music.
