I am trying to identify a film I saw more than ten years ago. It might have been a Gus Van Zant film. It was shot in black and white and involves the miserable lives of drug addicts living together in a house. As I remember it, one dies and the rest are so paranoid they hide the body in the attic. Does that ring a bell for anyone?

Follow Ups:
Gus Van Sant.

in a closed school 2 blocks from my sister house.
that is that I was a film student in Portland a few years ago and some of the shots EXACTLY mimicked my student film. The scenes on the basketball court were shot where I shot mine, which happened to be in front of where we were living at the time.
I won't sue...

middle of nowhere. Beautiful country, if one wishes to get away from it all.

I lived in Portland for a couple years, and I had no problems getting out of it w/o ever leaving the city :-)

The main character is played by Matt Dillion. The girl that OD'd was played by Heather Gram (sp.) They hide her body in the ceiling of their hotel room.

I think that's what you want

Drugstore Cowboy is what I thought it was, but after seeing the trailer, I think I am mixing two films on a similar subject. Thanks

No, in Drugstore Cowboy they put the body in the ceiling in a motel. Besides, it was shot in color.
