Thought this would be a left leaning knee jerk liberal extravaganza but was very surprised at a audaciously fair treatment of race relations in America (and to some extent the rest of the world.) No one escaped scrutiny or came across as an angel or a villain but a very human mixture of both. While many have criticized Crash as contrived I thought the story was brilliantly done with a great screenplay, excellent direction and even perfectly toned soundtrack music.
Every scene worked for me and the way the story and events were interwoven over a dozen characters was just way above average. Lastly, the acting was overall excellent. Kudos to Paul Haggis!

Follow Ups:
Saw the recent one a few days ago.A bit obvious but moving at times.
Feels a bit like Robert Altman 'Short Cuts' which is also set in LA.
Cronenberg's film is less accessable but IMO much meatier.
T.D.
Yes it's a bit contrived but overall works very well.
