Taylor Hackford directed this not as good remake of the noir classic, "Out of the Past". Here, injured fired prefessional football player Jeff Bridges is hired by former friend and now thug gambler James Woods to find Woods' Girlfiend, tha daughter of the widow who owns the team Bridges was playing for. Bridges does find the girl (Rachel Ward) on a remote Caribbean island and they begin a torrid affair. Back home in California a number of sub plots ensue involving professional footbal, real estate sevelopment, and ecology. Jane Greer, who played the girlfriend in "Out of the Past" is back here, this time as the mother who owns the football team, Richard Widmark is also aboard as a shady character. In the end I found myself not caring about any of the chracters.
