I can't understand why it has gotten such good reviews. Nothing of any consequence happens. It's all flash and no substance.
For those of us who watched the original TV series, they established continuity with the old characters, to some extent.
But I never bought the kid playing Jim Kirk.
It was heavy on computer generated special effects and loud noises, and the plot wasn't special.
Right before the movie, I saw trailers for the forthcoming Transformers, Terminator, and GI Joe. Though I hold out a remote glimmer of hope for Terminator, these look like three more heavy special effect laden loud clones, at time indistinguishable from one another.
