funny stuff, the main actress does a great job, but the Japanese actors wouldn't be anywhere near that intense to work with ( eg: tearing up papers, pulling faces, getting loud ) It would've been very hard to get her out of her contract once she was there ( ! ) Harassment would've been more subtle which might not have come across as well on the big screenUnfortunately her wish to become "really Japanese" came a bit too true; she's treated just like a regular employee, 10-20 years ago
A major corporation simply couldn't get away with any of this now; I've heard of Tokyo banks transferring unwanted employees to Singapore where labour laws are pretty much non-existant + firing them there, also know an American that won 20,000,000yen in a harassment case against an employer; corporations take notice, times have changed
Entertaining film, thanks for posting this!

Hey, give credit where credit is due!
If you want to make a silly film, at least make it entertaining. Ramen Girl at least does that.
Hint: movie is not a photo of reality.

I was an English instructor in Rio to a major Japanese corporations' execs. It wasn't exactly like the situation in the film, of course, because I wasn't in a film. But I experienced a definite aggressiveness, an unfriendliness. Years before, I worked for a Japanese family as the dishwasher in their restaurant. I was treated EXACTLY like the girl in the film (that surreal experience was like a film)--- utter disrespect, contempt.
Thanks for the "Ramen" recommendation. I do enjoy Japanese humor....
Between the two I thought Ramen was a watchable ***film***, the other one was a chore. I simply didn't care to see what happened next and how.
Could have been just me, but my wife didn't object to turning it off either.

Sylvie Testud may be cute, but no one will call her pretty.

But vacuous.
A gross oversight on part of her publicity manager, admittedly... and sadly...

But why are we talking about her? Did you really like the actress that much?
