Much to my surprise D'Sousa's latest film is his best. He has expanded the political documentary into entertainment by relying heavily on dramatization, big musical numbers, and creative animation. I found the overall effect to be compelling and intriguing.
Political documentaries are mostly cut and dry affairs with lots of inter cut videos and interviews. This has been minimized and replaced with researched dramatizations. D'Sousa has transcended his own film-making methods and chosen real talent to help produce a finally finished product.
Unfortunately, films of this nature only preach to the choir and I don't think there was anyone younger than 55 when I went. So, we know what that means.
If you are arch conservative or just Republicurious you may want to see this for insight and entertainment. Michael Moore, the gauntlet has been thrown.

I think we need James Bond, 007, to recover America from being STOLEN by the Democratic Party. I actually think it was stolen by someone else, so maybe we actually need Sherlock Holmes!

You do realize that just because a YouTube channel offers a disclaimer saying that "everything is documented and true" doesn't actually make it true, right? Right? Jesus wept.
Writing plainly and clearly is insufficient. Backdoors we can drive Russian Ladas through.
I love documentaries and would hate any that had such a format. Ridiculous. But we have the freedom to be idiots here in the US and overuse that freedom. You combine that with what a shithole Hollywood is and its a lethal combo. Oh media please dumb down the public even more, they arent dumb enough yet......or are they? This political season makes me think they just might be.

afford such luxuries as an $18 movie ticket.Sad watching the last of the 20th Century Union pensioners spending their last days being manipulated by someone who's ironically anti Socialist.

...what are the wing-nuts going to watch - the Democratic Convention?
Sure beats Dumb and Dumber 2.
You are probably right. Young mostly hold broader views and their noses can better smell The stink from D'Souza and his apologists friends crap.

My take on the film is in praise of the ingenious it way was created and produced. It's the most entertaining political documentary I've ever seen. And, it's not for everybody.
His track record isn't that great. He falls for internet tricks aimed at the Senile.
Not a Hillary fan btw.
Look at IMDB..It seems pretty favorable.

Rotten Tomatoes thumbs up: Critics = 4%, Audience = 80%I scanned the "reviews" and couldn't find one persuasive argument to support the negative ratings, other than the typical faults of a low-budget production.

...who would go see a fact-free slanderous film like that except a true believer?
I'm sure Fox News viewers think it's fair and balanced, too.
It did not have a good end. :-)

D'Sousa is a scholar and the film is well researched.
I'm surprised at how so many "intelligent" people tear something down without knowing anything about it first-hand.
As much as Luciano Pavarotti was ballet dancer.
Saying scholar for someone who is Christian apologist is like describing Hitler being goodhearted.
Saying scholar for someone who probably manages to put more logical fallacies in one minute of speech than anyone else is like saying that Bush Jr. is eloquent speaker.
And no, I do not have to watch one more piece of crap from Mr. D'Souza to know that it is The Crap, unless I hear from number of reviews that he is transformed man and turned his views 180 degrees. Up to that point, everything I read points to him being up to his old BS. Any review other than "Faux", and similar so called news, blasted the movie content more or less as ridiculous, and directing, acting, etc. as laughable.

Dinesh D'Souza is a bright man.I don't agree with everything he says anymore than I agree with every Michael Moore says which is usually very little in his case.
I understand that if you if follow a certain ideology you are going to be hyper-critical of those that don't agree with you.Believe it or not this system was created by design which is the system of gridlock. Get the extremists to control both political parties and dominate the social and mainstream media cycle by going out and convincing the public that it's the other party's fault. This is what the globalists want because then they are free to do what they want. Let me ask you a question. When you have the same big donors giving to both candidates regardless of the national or state office they are running for,why do you think they do this? I think the answer should be obvious.

Wow, you sound just like a l_ _ _ _ l.
This is about the quality and production of the film not the actual politics. I said if you are an arch conservative or Republicurious you may want to see this. I didn't encourage anyone to see it outright.
Please, scarp your brains off the ceiling and have a nice evening.
Well you went to see Farenheight 911 I bet. That was as partisan as it gets.
"For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong" H. L. Mencken
...of course Moore's films are as left-wing partisan as it gets.
At least he uses facts.
Here is the sad part about politics today. You have your partisans on both sides so when you view things thru a political bias, you are going to formulate the opinion in your mind that your side is presenting the facts.
The best thing about this year's election is the fact that the two party system has been exposed, and they have been exposed in a way that shows they are pretty much the same people and philosophy. The only place a difference might exist is on a couple social issues.People are now finding out that their govt will spy on them, use drones to kill people, engage in military intervention, and oust dictators regardless of what they profess to be.
I'm voting this year primarily because I despise the TPP,crony capitalism where we fund corporations with tax dollars only to move off shore and skirt paying little to no taxes back into the system.I have no issue with lowering the taxes on corporations provided they don't accept excessive govt money. The biggest beef I have is how the cronies overcharge our govt for everything. When you pay 1500 dollars for a toilet seat or a hammer,or 19000 dollars for a bolt you can buy at the hardware store for a dollar, that's insane. We have been accepting NO BID contracts since the 60s because politicians get lots of money from the people that fiance their campaigns or feather their nest with big bonuses. The political establishment has been protecting each other for years.I think what Trump and Bernie did this year by exposing the system even in their own respective parties had to be done. They committed the ultimate sin. Thou Shall Not Tell Anyone Our Secrets and disrupt our gravy train that we have adored all these years.
Lets be honest, the two party establishment would love to kill Trump and Bernie for doing what they did. Now you know why.

...what did you think of it?
I did
It was humorous in parts but I didn't see it in the theaters.Portraying our president as just sitting and doing nothing is a bit over the top.
"For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong" H. L. Mencken
Wasn't there two versions of that ? One by Michael Moore and the other by Alex Jones ? I saw both.
Michael Moore was focused on one election it seemed, it stuck in his craw. Some of his claims did not help his credibility.
If the Alex Jones version of that was the same name which makes this relevant, Jones has good evidence. He has footage and all that but he draw some far out conclusions. What's more I don't care if they burn goats in rituals at Bohemian Grove, I care what they do in their official capacity.
I'd say watch them both but turn off the sound.
Unless I am mistaken, all this was years ago.

"...Now imagine that photograph—dubiously sourced, factually questionable and suffused with nasty personal cracks instead of any legitimate insight or criticism—and you have D'Souza's latest film, "Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party," a work that almost makes his previous cinematic efforts, "2016: Obama's America" and "America" seem lucid and well-reasoned by comparison.
Little more than an extended version of the kind of political screeds that can be found online with only a minimum of effort, this is just a terrible movie, and, depending on the conditions that were set forth, there is a chance it could be considered a parole violation as well."
You always seek out the worst review possible to refute whatever I have to say without ever seeing the film first yourself.
I presume this is not for you but it is not the "dumbest documentary" this guy ever saw. Try not to let politics poison the punch. Go see it then vote your conscience.
...that wasn't the worst review I saw, more in the middle. If the film fits your preconceived notions, regardless of the facts, then I'm sure you enjoyed it.
There are entire cable news departments designed to make you feel good that way.
Calling it a "documentary" of anything is a big stretch.
Edits: 07/27/16
But the critics are mostly Hillary supporters like 99% of the industry. If the film walked on water,I don't think it would matter. Also, some of the worst critiqued films by reviewers were the most successful.

Relax, have a martyini and watch some MSNBC to soothe yer jangled nerves.
Nothing like the truth. I didn't know he was outta prison. The guy is a pathological liar. No idea why anybody would watch the shit he puts out let alone enjoy it.
who checked in every night by 8:00 pm. There are plenty of pathological liars in the world of politics by D'Souza is not one of them.
*** I didn't know he was outta prison. The guy is a pathological liar. ***Well, sorry, but if you did not EVEN know he was in prison, how could you possibly know if he is a liar or a truth teller?
One is not possible without the other. Clearly, you never heard him speak, and never heard any serious discussion of his views, politics, films, etc.
But you know he is a liar... LOL! That is funny! :)

You'd be wrong Vic. I'm familiar enough with his work, and deeds, to know one when I see one. We clearly have very different views of him.
I have not seen any of his films, but I find it impossible not to know the fact that he went to jail (OK, OK, a "confinement center") :). It was all over the wire.I don't hold any particular view of him, since I simply don't know enough, but the fact he spent 8 months in jail is a common knowledge to anyone interested in politics.

Victor, maybe you didn't read my op correctly, or maybe I could've said it more plainly, but was/am absolutely aware that he'd been convicted and sentenced. Or maybe I've missed your point. Either way, I've already typed way,way more about this man than I ever imagined I would.
...to note that in last night's speech Bill Clinton went through all Hillary's "accomplishments" from her young age, including the greatest one - marrying him... but for some strange reason he "forgot" to say ANYTHING about her most recent contribution to humanity: the Clinton Foundation.
It was clear that he wanted to avoid at all cost reminding people of all the behind the scene stuff happening there.
...The previous two D'Sousa "documentaries" left me feeling cheated as I left the theater....not unlike much of MM's stuff. I won't get fooled again!
This one is better tho..Strip away the political bias of the critics and you kind of get the idea that movie is pretty good..In other words, read between the lines.

...fool me three times, shame on me. The previous D'Sousa stuff was red meat for the true believers. I expect NOTHING different from this and will spend my $$ accordingly.
Obviously this is an extremely polarizing production: I haven't read one positive review from a respected professional reviewer even as quite a few John-Q-Public reviews have been enthusiastic. Clearly red meat.
I'll check it out Friday.
