He's a guy that some people wonder how it is he's still above ground. Ethics and morals of a rattlesnake. Brando is well known shitbag, living out of country. Probably wise on his part.
No criminal charges were made by Maria. She was just breaking into (broken into?) the movie biz; which probably would have ended if she filed for a legal charge. As it turned out, that WAS the end of her U.S. film career; continuing in France, and it was also her last nude scene.
Follow Ups:
I never liked Bertolucci, I consider him just a B director, who for some reason never got enough sex. His obsession is ridiculous, and the very idea of capturing the real emotions is counter to the very essence of acting as art.
As far as Marlon - yes, there are many stories about him, but unlike Bertolucci, he left behind a very solid and credible body of work.
Unfortunately, many artists were real bastards in their lives.
'The Last Emperor'. It collected seven Oscars and should have gotten them all. It was a class production. I need to break it out soon. The acting was incredible even though Huppert was not in it.
.
Titanic is as described.
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
But Bertolucci is not that film. The quintessential Bertolucci is The Dreamers.
