Our local Cinemax has senior Mondays where any movie is $3.25. You can't beat that with a stick. Where we used to live, a movie cost between $7.50 on senior Tuesdays.
But was too lazy to change it. I see too many movies but buy senior tickets. MP is now encouraging members to see a movie a day. They are trying to get payback from the theaters.
About three weeks ago they started requiring us to send in a snapshot of the actual ticket. Their app makes it a smooth process by calling up your camera and automatically uploading it after you take a useable picture. Probably sorting them out a d presenting them to chains for kickback.
No matter, I don't see how this can last indefinitly.
Much neglected source of good films.
Unless you life truly depends on your seeing the latest trash.
Some of your choices seem a bit esoteric. Do you just cruise the racks at the local library or vid store? Or do you have a source list/review reference to consult?
Any place we can. Some are from the well hidden sections of Netflix, but they are getting increasingly hard to find. Some we watch on Youtube (there are tons of old movies there), and then there is the library. There are no video stores in our area, unfortunately.
Netflix is OK, but I am more and more enjoying filmstruck streaming. Here is a list from another website of their current selection (this list is updated as their titles change).
How much is their service? Do they have good foreign film selection?
I paid 100 dollars for a year, this includes the Criterion channel. In terms of foreign movies, that is more or less their calling card. Best to look at the link I enclosed and check out the list.
.
That's pretty cheap.
I run with the senior discount crowd , and the slight discount at concessions would be my primary financial gain, and about the cost of one senor discount ticket.
The big drawback , no passes excepted for the first week or ten days, sometimes more, usually.
I don't want people to blow the ending of a movie that I might enjoy memories from, the rest of my life, so I go as soon as the crowds thin down a bit, if I think it might be good. PLus I'm not doing paper work and releasing any information about me, even the size of my boogers , when I came there to see a movie and have fun.
When film used to be projected, I would just go on the second week, crowds were down, and the film print would still be in top shape.
