Despite being a life long science fiction fan I'll pass. I'm sick to death of CGI. And YA movies. And Spielberg.

Also, as we've seen on the news in recent days, tough talking teens are the future, not a bunch of old dudes.
I taught grade 8-9 - girls are talking - one girls says to friend
"my boyfriend tossed my salad last night"
I had to look that up and I'm pretty darn liberal.
Times sure have changed since I was in grade 9. And that was 8 years ago - now it's probably a conversation in grade 6. jeez

The soundtrack was 80s techno pop and rock like Billy Idol and New Order and Prince. Other pop culture references were 80s movies like The Shining and Back to the Future. One assumes 16 year olds today must be pretty hip if they get all those 80s pop culture references.

...are for their parents.
Spielberg is no fool.
He wanted to expand the film's demographics beyond the young movie-goers.
The movie - like the book - is for adults. But also for teens, who are much hipper than adults were at that age.
That CG, as the star in films, making live actors secondary, has about run its course.
I could be wrong of course, but I'm personally weary from it.
I don't think your hopes will be realized. The only thing that other countries movie industries can't duplicate are the special effects. If you want to sell, you need product.
