  That dude is still probably driving an old Pacer or Gremlin, no doubt! Now that DVD recordable is a reality, I don't think it will die down. Prices will fall precipitously hopefully.

  Nearly all the consumer-based reviews I have seen are negative. The unit skips when playing DVDs and has numerous other problems.

  In fact, I have a Hollywood DVD just down the street from my house. They have nothing but DVDs and video games. It's great because they have enough space in there to stock all the crappy dvds that would normally be displaced by video tapes. (and I certainly enjoy watching crappy dvds from time to time)
