I try to see every movie that comes from that country. While most of them do not raise to the level of Carlos Sorin's masterpieces, many have plenty to offer. They seem to be as far removed from Hollywood, as is geographically possible. :-)
The Desert Bride is a rather short film, that manages to keep you riveted to the screen for its 78 minutes. A very simple story, told quietly, but something you are likely to remember.
Streaming from Netflix.
Follow Ups:
'Black Snow' is the story of a family's secrets that cannot be mentioned and the effects of it on the remaining two brothers. Ricardo Darrin lives as a recluse in snowy Patagonia when his younger brother comes to persuade him to agree to sell the family homestead. Much drama ensues. Darrin has always been a great performer and here he plays something totally different from his usual roles. 3 wonks for atmosphere and story.
Good catch, and thank you for reminding! We watched a totally crazy Russian "comedy" tonight. Completely bizarre to the point of being idiotic in spots, but with great actors, and some really funny moments. It is called Karp Otmorozhennyy... not sure if it will be translated, and even if that is possible, but keep it in mind just in case.
