I once projected mine on a sheet across a street for a block party in NYC. Admittedly, I had to drive the white level pretty hard.
Your lens(es) must be pretty good and brightness could be a problem with older units. Mine is currently 17 feet away with an image about 100" wide. Like being up front in the theatre. I wouldn't have it any other way. All I usually watch is movies, but I did CSI in Hi-Deff last night and it was stunning!
