as far as i know, the dvd only has 500 lines of data in it, so there's no way a dvd player could get data where there isn't any. that being said, i think progressive scan dvd players will just double the lines that are there to give the hd standard 1080 lines. i suppose there's potential for that to look better than outputting the regular signal and then doubling it outboard. maybe that's what the dealer was talking about?

That may be reality but that is not what the dealer said. What she said didn't make a lot of sense though, so it may be that she was in over her head and I didn't want to push her under and be impolite. She was cute. The last time I did that was to a Bose salesman and lost out on a date.
