I own a DVD the box of which contains a globe symbol with a zero superimposed on it. My understanding is that this means the disc is unrestricted and should be playable on a DVP from any "region". However, I tried it on a basic, entry level U.S. Sony DVD player, and all I got was a text message to the effect that the disc could not be played in this zone. Does anyone know what the problem might be, and how I can get the disc to play?
Follow Ups:
It is easily solved by getting in touch with the manufacturere and explaining the problem. They will tell you the "secret codes" to get your DVD player to work. I tried the codes, they worked and have not had a problem since.Of course you have to type the codes in every time you run into this problem. I taped the instructions to the bottom of the DVD remote for future use...
Assuming I get a hold of the relevant code, where would I input this?
In my case, I used the remote control. They gave me the sequence of codes to activate some hidden menus and entering the specific button sequence made the DVD player play the disks I was having a problem with...
Good Luck...
