I have a Toshiba 57h82 TV that I use to watch HDTV. HD programs look just amazing on this unit. That being said, I have been experimenting with ABC's 720p format. The Toshiba 57h82 is said to accept 720p with no problem. This is true, but somehow I felt that my Samsung SIRT150 set top box didn't output a very good picture when set to 720p. I thought 720p was supposed to be an improvement, but setting the Sammy to 1080i and letting it upconvert the 720p signal was better to my eyes.
I think something is missing. Does the Tosh 57h82 output TRUE 720p or merely downconvert it to 540p and use line doubling???

I am a Toshiba Cinema Series dealer. As far as I know the IDSC PRO System uses the same scan rate for all signals. IE- you will either get 540p, doubled, o9r it will do 1080i. 1080i will be displayed in its native format. I would try the 1080i. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure, but I think the Tosh's are just 720p "capable" meaning they upconvert to 1080i. Maybe the conversion in the Samsung is just better?
