Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me out with recommendations on a mid-size tv, either 25'' or 27'' TV that is under $200? What brands should I stay away from (I heard Apex)? Is Orion a decent brand? Thanks

Follow Ups:
I think they make (made?) a pretty nice 27" set that could be found for just over $200 on sale.

Although I really haven't looked at the smaller screen TVs in a while, Toshiba has impressed me with their features/quality for the price. I was looking at their rear projection TVs for a while, too.Honestly, many of the TVs you'll look at are made by a limited number of companies. Matsushita markets under several brands (Panasonic being their favored one). I believe the RCA and GE sets are both made by Thompson, although that may very well no longer be the case. I do know that several years ago, almost all of the GE and RCA sets were nearly identical and varied only slightly in their case designs. I personally wouldn't mess around with Orion, Apex, Symphonic, or most of the smaller brands found at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. but you may find that some of them are made by Sanyo or another larger manufacturer... check on specific models.

I've had a GE 25" basic set for about three years now. It can be purchased new for about $200, as can similar sets by RCA. It is in the den system which my kids and wife use. No problems, reasonably clean picture, remote. Just remember to lower the contrast, color and sharpness settings from the stupid factory levels.
