I am currently running the B&W CC6 center channel with my 602s. The CC6 tends to sound congested and really plays on my nerves while trying to enjoy my new Sony 7700 DVD player (an absolutely fabulous machine I might add). Does anyone have suggestions for an upgrade? I am wondering in particular if the CDM series center channel speaker would be a good match to the 602s. Thank you in advance for your input.
I haven't heard the CC6 units. So, I can't pin point your sonic discrepencies. All I can suggest is altering what you already own.
1) Try plugging the port which is the most likely to work.
2) What's the interior look like? Unscrew the woofers. You can play with the amount of acoustic stuffing. Or if this is making matters worse, hot glue cardboard rigidly about the interior perimeter in a semi-cylindrical shape to reduce box size.
I use a Leagacy Audio Silver Screen. It uses the same drivers as my mains and is well matched. It may not sound coherent with your mains. I've heard good things about NHT center channel speakers. Good luck.
Unfortunately, this is a tough one. Guess no one has tired both, but that's the only real way to find out. Assuming the timbre match is correct, generally more $$ is better. Let us know what you find out if you can get one home to try it.
