So, my wife is starting her own business which will be using our old sony dvp7700. We'll be buying a new dvd player to replace it with. I use a krell kcd for my cd playback and have been delighted with it for years. What is available these days for high end dvd players? Are their any that have hdtv playback? We have a 50 inch panny plasma for viewing. We do not have sacd or dvda anymore and I don't believe there is much use in getting it these days, though to be honest I haven't read much lately on all things audio. Once I got to a place where i was happy with my system, I no longer felt the need to upgrade. Ideally, I'd rather not spend over $1k as my dvd use is pretty much nature dvds and the occasional movie these days, but if their are hd playback and there is some software available i'll gladly pay up. thanks in advance for any suggestions

Follow Ups:
You're going to have to wait for the next blue laser format for HD on an optical disc (Blu-Ray and HD-DVD in 2005/2006).Other than Microsoft's VC-9 material for computers, there's no HD content on DVDs. There are some stand-alone DVD players that can upconvert the 480i DVD picture to the 1080i or 720p formats. It does look a bit better than the 480p format, but it's not true HD quality.
Do you have an HD tuner? If not, LG is offering a combination HD tuner/DVD player. The DVD player will also upconvert to the 1080i and 720p format if you desire. Best Buy's price is $399, but you may find it cheaper elsewhere. If this seems like a possible option, I'd do some reading on the video forums to get an idea of the picture quality before purchasing.
