I am considering getting a 26" Sony Plasma HDTV. My DVD player an an old cheap Pioneer 525, about $200.00 in 2000 or so. What would be a good DVD player for $500-1000 to go with the Sony? Do I need a DVD player with progressive scanning? Thanks for your help.

I think the smallest plasma Sony makes is a 32" model. Are you sure it's not a flat panel LCD that you're considering?There's a guide at the bottom of the link below. You should read it. Thank you for the link. Great info for a newcomer. You're right, the Sony is a LCD TV which was in a "plasma TV buying guide."
