Vid-philes,I have a Sharp LCD 26GA4U and an older Sony DVP-7700. Where does this DVD player stack up against todays players?
If it's not on par with low-mid-fi DVD players, then thinking of upgrading to the Denon 2910 or 3910...

Sonically the old Sony 7700 DVD player is very good. I have one and it stacks up favorably to others I own. I'm talking redbook CD playback as the 7700 will not do SACD. The 7700 isn't bad at all. I can't be certain but I don't think either Denon will offer a sonic upgrade unless you want to play SACD. Now for video, thats probably a different story with the Denons doing better but just how important is video to you?
