I just got a new, basic model Sony Wega TV and reconnected the cable to my VCR and then a coaxial from the VCR to the TV. The coaxial cable is a basic one. Will the quality of the picture from my cable service significantly improve with a higher quality coaxial cable?

Follow Ups:
has an excellent tuner section, you will get a "much" improved picture by splitting your cable with a high quality (2 mHZ) splitter and running direct to your tv and your vcr or your cable reciever.
I recently "upgraded" the coaxial cable on my satellite system & everyone saw an improvement. The length was 45 feet. There are a number of brands, Audioquest, Kimber, even Monster, if you can find it "on sale."
You can do better than the typical cheapie cables provided with the VCR / DVD player / or cable box. To what extent higher-end cables will improve your picture will vary. If your cable runs are long then most definitely YES, quality cables will make a difference. For shorter runs probably not as much of an improvement. The higher-quality cables from Radio Shack are fine for most applications where the cables aren't very long. Radio Shack also sells Monster Cable but personally I think Monster Cable is over priced and a lot more than most people need. You can get better cable for less. Just my 2-cents.

I only have a four foot length of cable so it sounds like it's not a big difference to upgrade.

I agree with the Belden. I got 25' from Bluejeans for $100. Oh, man are the colors and sharpness great!
