I've a CRT Projector image which "jumps" with every drum beat going to the 9" woofers on the center speaker. It's currently located just below the screen, but I suspect moving it away from the TV might help. How far away should I move it (which probably won't happen until I get a custom-built speaker stand? Any ideas on shielding ?

It sounds like it's more likely from physical vibrabations affecting that large, flat. thin screen as opposed to magnetic distortions which would affect the CRT. Also, magnetic distortions tend to be more constant and manifest themselves as color blotches as opposed to changing causing the picture to jump.Moving the speaker should cure the problem but how far is more a matter of trial and error and, I believe, physicaly decoupling the speaker and screen.
