I recently purchased a mitsu 62" black diamond dlp rptv. From day one the set has displayed a faint ranibow band of color in the middle of the screen about 1/3 of the way from the bottom. The band is angled up and to the right and is about 10-12" long and 4-5" in width. It is noticeable anytime a dark object is in the center of the screen or on black screen changes. It is particularly noticeable during dark viewing conditions. Both mitsu and the retailer told me it was normal for dlp rptv's. Anyone know if I'm being fed a line?

If it were me it would be returned. Can you see the same imperfection on a floor model at the store where you bought it?

I did not see it on the floor model when I went back to check. The store, however, had a little more ambient light and was not displaying any media with dark content in the middle of the screen.

That is, the line of crap they're feeding you. The display is defective and you need to return it.
