Im looking to upgrade my current 27in 4:3 crt hdtv. I would like something a bit bigger, maybe around 32in or so. I watch mainly SD digital cable and some dvds, the only thing I really watch in HD is football and im not even a huge fan. So SD is most important to me, HD would be nice for the future though. I would like to spend under $1000 and it doesnt have to be a flat panle a crt is fine. Any ideas?

Saw one yesterday at Best Buy.
Put casters under the stand so it can be easly pushed around.
... but I do own a Trinitron Vvega 34in hd crt. The hd is spectacular but standard def is a major disapiontment. Colours are to green and picture quality is just ok. My 10 year old Trinitron betters it on standard def in every way. I have yet to see any hd tv do standard def well.

I never had to go into the service menu's to adjust this set.
It's a stunning picture if you can accept a 200lb+ monster and a relatively small 34" screen. I opted for the 50" Sony SXRD because I wanted a bigger picture for dvd movies. Don't count that one out before you see it!

I think my 8 year old Mitsu 32 " has a better picture than my High DEf XBR , in standard def.But DVD's on the XBR are much better.
All this fuss about the size of the sony 34xbr960 is silly. If you want the best picture quality get the sony.My dvds with a oppo 971 dvd player look great,HD theater looks stunning, sporting events
concerts....etc. There is more than enough HD content now to justify buying a HD set.Go to the AVS forum and you'll see that the sony 34xbr960 crt set is highly regarded.
