Is that entirely true? Since an HD (dishnetwork)satellite receiver CAN recieve "off air signals" with it's channel scan feature and off airs are 1080p, ergo; correct me if not accurate.

Are you talking about over the air signals? They are 1080i or 720p, not 1080p. 1080p takes too much bandwidth, and channels can barely handle HD as it is.
