I'm not sure about the smooth scan function but I might suggest looking at the Harman Kardon changer or the Marantz line. The Marantz line is made by Phillips but is of higher quality and there performance is very nice.
Thanks for your input. Yeh, if I bought anything from the Marantz/Philips/Magnavox family, it'll probably be Philips. I'm not a fan of HK, in anything they make, so I'll avoid them. Looks like I might consider Panasonic. One thing that I thought about over this time is that the smooth scan is at 2X speed. Will it really help in searching, as a VCR? My old VCR had a 2X play, and it was so slow, it was essentially useless. I think I may be expecting these to do something, that they wont. Thanks for the reply.
