In Reply to: Re: Nakamichi AV-10 comparable with recievers costing much more? posted by Brett on April 30, 1999 at 09:20:03:
Not to be a chump, but you get what you pay for. Since the $886 cost of your NAK suggests that you received one of the many refurbished units out in the market, I only hope you wish you had bought the unit from an authorized dealer when and if the receiver decides to crash. In addition to defining yourself as a cheepskate, your decesion to shop mail order also qualifys you as one among many who are killing hi-end retail audio. Despite my railing, I hope you have no problems with your purchase. In two channel audio and surround, the Nak AV 10 is truly a wonderful product.
I did purchase from an Autorized dealer. Costsheets just farms out their orders to local authorized dealers. The unit is not refurbished. I hate to say it, but high profit margins on hardware are a thing of the past now that the internet is here. Yamaha is trying to fight it. They will suffer. Embrace the new world order or get run over :-)Brett
