I need to buy another Blu-Ray player as a gift for someone who
needs a player that will upscale DVDs decently and also use it as
a CD player. I know about the Oppos and more expensive Pioneer
units. But is there anything in the $200-300 range that will
do a decent job? I have an older more expensive Pioneer unit
I am using and have been happy with other than the slow loading
times. I am considering a Pioneer BDP-140.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Bill
A Blu-ray player vs a Media Monster for a gift. Hmmm...
CD, DVD, Blu-ray, USB flash drive, games, Bluetooth capability, online gaming, Netflix streaming, plays quite a list of music/video/picture formats, analog audio/video capability, digital audio/video via optical and HDMI, ethernet connection, on-board hard drive for storage that can be user upgraded, free upgrades that add features, etc.
Several online deals for the 160GB version ($250, which also includes a $50 gift card).
I have a Samsung BD-6500. The picture quality is as good or better as the Pioneer BDP-320 that I also own, plus the Samsung will stream Netflix, Vudu, etc. Oh, and it plays DVD-A's, although it doesn't advertise that feature. It loads faster that the Pioneer by a long shot.
