If I hook up the cable to any of my tv's, I get grey diagonal lines that move from right to left in the background of my picture.
These distorions can be seen even when I am any video source. I have a Panasonic, with two AV's in's and an S-Video input. If the cable is connected to any device, that is in turn connected to any of these inputs; this interference shows up everywhere, even if the video source I am viewing has no direct contact with the cable. Once the cable is given a path to my tv, I cannot avoid the ditstortion it causes.Could the cable be picking up some line noise, and transferring that to my TV? Could the cable signal be too strong, too weak; thus causing such distortion? Do any of you have any advice that would help combat this problem?
This is a very annoying problem for me. Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds like a ground loop problem. Try an in-line isolation transformer. Jensen Transformers makes a nice one for about $50. You can rig a poor man's solution by splicing two Radio Shack 75 to 300 ohm transformers together at the 300 ohm ends and hooking the 75 ohm ends in line with your coax.
Do you have any line conditioning devices?
If not, I woudl recommend one ofthe Monster HTS units (1000 or 2000)
Both avilable for under $125, they will clena the power to your components & tv (resulting in better picture and sound in my case). They also condition the incoming coax feed for cable, which really cleaned up my picture.dg
The monster unit didn't do anything for my problem with cable and audio noise. Solution for the time being is for me to disconnect the cable from the wall (or tv) when listening to music or watching a movie.-- Greg
