I would like to get a new TV, but my Satellite/DVR Box only has RCA and S-video outputs. All the TVs I have seen have only HDMI and component video inputs. What should I do? If there is an adaptor, do I lose much video quality in translation? Thanks for any forthcoming advice.

What you should do is call your satelite provider and upgrade your service to a new DVR. If not willing to do that just go to Craigslist and get a free standard TV some one is giving away. Here's why, your current box is giving you 480i resolution, you can buy a TV with 4k resolution but you will still see only 480i, well, let me correct myself a bit, a new TV will upsample to it's native resolution but it will still be a far cry from a true HD signal. A new DVR will provide High Definition video of 720p (p=Progressive Scan, a solid picture, no interlace) or 1080i, depending on the network, some satelite services like Dish claim 1080p from certain Pay Per View channels. A Blu-Ray will provide 1080p.
To answer your actual question, I'm sure your satelite receiver has at least a composite, single RCA video, many new TV's still offer a composite input. My Toshiba LED did but you have to use RCA to mini adaptor provided.
Maybe a CD recorder would convert composite or S-video to component? Those can sometimes be picked up in the $10 to $20 range at thrift stores and yard sales.
It has HDMI output. Allowing your display choices to be dictated by an old DVR is putting the cart before the horse in a major way.

No plans to upgrade to HD? An SD box on an HD display is far from satisfying. There are certainly adapters available but.....
