I am using my pc for blu-rays - mpc hc decoders decoding lossless audio to pcm and asus soundcard direct to amp - will the lossless digital audio pass through a usb cable to my rega usb dac? My understanding is that with an oppo or similar standalone player, the lossless digital audio will only pass through hdmi. thanks

Computers are different than stand-alone players in that there are some features that you may be able to customize for your specific needs. First, the lossless audio will need to be decoded to 2-channel PCM because that's what your DAC will be expecting. Also, the PCM stream should be output at a bit depth and sample rate that the DAC can process. Next, either the OS and/or the software that you are using to play back the Blu-ray material will have to allow for the option to use the USB path for audio.
Satisfy those requirements and there's no "sane" reason that a USB DAC can't be used for Blu-ray audio.
It will not.

Wendell, why will it not?
Your dac will not pass the DSD data stream. If converted to PCM first, it may.

How many Blu-ray discs contain DSD audio?

Thank you. It is decoded and coverted to pcm before transmission via usb. It's funny, I posted this question on numerous forums and nobody has the answer..
