Linked to the question of new TV...
What I love about our old plasma is the external tuner box, where all the connections to the sources are made. From there a single FireWire goes to the monitor.
With all that HDMI stuff, is there a possible similar solution, so I would not need to fish multiple signal cables to the TV? Some hub device?

may I ask why you're going to depend on the in-box sound of whatever tv you end up with?
Can't you get a good deal on an "outboard" system? :-)
I know my separate audio system makes a huge contribution to the pleasure of enjoying films--- of all genres, not just musicals!
She is very sensitive to all kind of clutter, and this particular interior is very clean, with just the TV and pictures.
Given the advances in the soundbars, I will likely try to install one later, but first I need to get the foot in the door! :-)
I always thought a receiver made a perfect central connection source
Got to hand it to you Victor. You've managed to stir up more activity on this board in the last 3 days than its seen in the last 3 months. Good to see people participating over here.I think what you are asking about is an HDMI switching device. If correct, then yes, there are many makers of them and prices all over the board. Some are manual switches and some come with remote control. Let me see if I cant find you a link to some.
Edit: Victor, as I said there are many makers out there. Only reason I linked to Kanex is that I have one of their other products and have found build quaity, etc. to be very good.

As they say - one fool can ask more questions than seven wise men can answer... :)
But let me complicate it a bit - how about a hub that also takes various video inputs? All the way down to the composite video... he-he... :)
At any rate, it sound like I should allocate perhaps $1K more for purchasing new player, cables, hub, etc.
DVDO Edge or DVDO Edge Green.
They go for $250 on up used and I've seen them listed around $300 new.
