Hi Guys/Gals, I just recently inquired with Time Warner about the upcoming upgrade to our television service, digital !!! Well I was really hoping for stereo/Dolby Surround since almost every station is broadcasting in such, which we at the present time only get 5 stations in stereo, no Dolby. The new service is only going to be channels above the 100 mark, nothing in the regular tv schedule will change. Man I was livid. Can you believe that we don't get at least all stations in stereo ?? What a bunch of bull. Time Warner sucks moose toes ?? I don't care about 90+ channels of music that I can't stand, nor do I care about 90+ stations of HBO, nor SHO, nor etc. All I really want is to get the Sci-Fi Channel in stereo,,,"AT THE LEAST".
I'll bet all of you get stereo tv don't you ?? I got outraged about this when I found a site (Dolby) telling me that all these hundreds of stations are all in Dolby Surround, why can't we get them ?? Jeeshh!! I'm going to sign off now before I say something that won't get posted, or I'll get my butt kicked off of here !!! Peace SteveF
Follow Ups:
The free to air UHF channels are stereo and most programing gives Dolby Surround. I understand that when it changes to digital broadcasting, AC3 will be the norm. The satellite video we get here is all stereo but "Discovery" & "National Geographic" do not ever give any Dolby Surround while the others we get do. This is puzzling as some of the Geographic DVDs are fully DD. What is the situation with these two channels in the States?
John
If it's in Stereo (at least some channels), how do you know it's not in Dolby Surround? Since DVD came out, I have been watching very little normal TV. They still do that "commercial thing" every 10 minutes or so, huh? :-)-- Greg
Hi GPB, Thanks for you reply. I think you've missed my point, in that I'm stressed !!!! about the fact that we're not 'getting' the channels that we should be getting, in stereo and/or in Dolby Surround. It doesn't matter whether it's one or the other, I'm just asking to be able to get DPL out of the audio signal, a stereo signal is just fine by me, but why we're not getting all stations in stereo is what I'm stressed about, and the word stressed is not the operative word here, just using it to get posted !!! Thanks Time Warner. Peace SteveF
