We have a Compaq Armada laptop that we just today tried to use to view a DVD on our TV. We bought the appropriate cable to connect it all up, it all seemed to work, but, for one odd reason or another, the area that the feature was playing in just showed up as a magenta box, but everything else was viewable.What are we doing wrong? Is some sort of converter required?

Hi,I do not know what you mean with a "mageta box" (I know that mageta is a one the fundamental color in the printing industry and it is video color diagram).
But I do know that some pc DVD player need a converter to able to connect to teh TV, this seems to be some kind of protection, to incite people to buy regular DVDs.Hope this helps.
