I have a sony STR-DE845 receiver (dts/dolby digital), hooked to a Phillips DVD player via a Digital Coax cable (yeah the cable IS a DIGITAL coax, not a regular, and the out port on the dvd *is* for digital coax).. the receiver acknowledges there is a ditial signal, or rather that the input coming in is digital coax (shows it on the display), but does not put decode in dolby digital. I was wondering if anyone knew why? I have tried several DVDs, all carry the dolby digital label, and the dvd is in 5.1 mode, and the dvd player shows AC3DIGITAL as the sound format (via the screen when the dvd is playing I hit "display" on the remote). Everything seems in place, but I cant get it working? Any help appreciated!

I just bought a Sony STRV929X Reciever, I beleive the basic functions should be somewhat similiar to the DE845, did you check whether the sound field on the DE845 is set to 'auto' or '5.1'
