    Thew center should match you're other mains (left & right). If someone goes from stage left to right, the very last thing you want is their voice to change. Ideally the center should be identical. But, this is quite impractical for almost all HT. I would assume you've selected mains that allow most lyrics to be understood. So, this advice shouldn't be contradictory.

    BTW, the speakers ideally should be placed in an equidistant arc which's also impractical but also fudgible with some tweaking.
