All dvd players are natively NTSC, but the european ones can also play PAL. I'm involved with making DVD's for worldwide sale so we convert them from PAL masters to NTSC masters and then author them NTSC as they will play in the uk.PAL to NTSC is very tricky and requires vector motioning to achieve high quality results. I have a box that cost £5,000 and can do standards conversion, but the quality is foor even at that price, so we sent the DigiBeta tapes out to have them converted on an Alchemist that does a good job. These cost £150,000 each!!! So yes you can get good quality, but the price is high. Other cheap option is to buy a Multi-standard TV and show the DVD in its native PAL by far your cheapest option, and the quality should be pristine.
Good luck

Thanks for you're help. I only have a few PAL movies - I'll just stick with the slight jitter with the Creative Labs DXR/3 card converting the signal and consider a multi-standard monitor/projector during the next upgrade.
