Those are the exact same models I am considering. Irritating that all the showrooms have lousy video sources and haven't been able to get a direct side by side comparison with HDTV or DVD

Before you buy, check out the Philips 34PW9815, also a direct veiw HDTV with a line doubler. Sold at most Circuit City stores, if they are available in you area. I checked out all the others and decided th Philips was the best.
The Sony and Panasonic models you are looking at have been reviewed in The Perfect Vision in the last 6 months. I bought the Panasonic CT-32HX40 (4:3) HDTV and I am extremely please with the picture quality in NSTC broadcast, Cable, DVD for the $1325 price from J&R. The built in line doubler works really improves the source same as in more expensive models. I didn't buy the more expensive models because you were just paying too much the 16:9 aspect ratio while losing on the vertical height for regular broadcast. I moved my Sony 32" Wega in back room without regrets. BTW: Panasonic has new model CT32HX41 with a few more nice feature at same price.
I recently purchased the CT32HX40 and now hear rumors of the 41. What new features will be included in the 41?Thanks for your info,
Tom Garcia
