Now it's getting interesting. The tape you recorded on that VCR and played back on another system still has no red??? Hmmm, How do you record this??? From SCART of the TV??? The SCART is only connection here where RGB goes separate. So if you record from VCR's tuner or RCA A/V this is not possible. I refuse to believe it. Video signal on tape is not RGB separated. Only way that I see this could happen is if SCART loses red and you record on VCR from the SCART.You say you tried VCR on some other TV and it's fine. How does it play tapes from other VCR's? Did you use same SCART cable at dealer's place? Maybe cable interrupts only sometimes.
Can you make more clear how all this is connected?
Follow Ups:
Started from scratch and can report the problem exists on pre-recorded VHS via scart and UHF connections ie picture may start ok for a few seconds but ends up without the red component.
I am using a digital satelite receiver.Digital satelite receiver is connected by scart to the TV and by scart to the VCR. The recording is therefore made from the receiver and playback is achieved via the receiver.
There is also a loop through for want of a more accurate description for the UHF signal.
I experience the probleam on prerecorded tapes as well as any off air recordings I make.
I have tried a connection via UHF and again the same.
I have tried connecting directly to the TV via scart thus bipassing the receiver and have the same problem.
The scarts are monster.
I will spend some time at the weekend trying from scratch and see how I get on.
Thank for the help
