Thanks for your input. Would it then be your standpoint that the DV-88 is a sensible choice for a guy wanting a clean picture and competant cd music sound without a second mortgage on his home?!Does the Arcam DV-88 have a considerably better picture quality as well over the say, $300.00 DVD player arena?....If so, what did you find particularly "outstanding" about it?
sorry for all the return fire questions, but I need all the input I can as I am not a video-guru.....yet....

Yes, I believe the DV-88 would give you alot more than competent sound and a clean picture. I was replacing a Pioneer Elite DV-37 when I auditioned these players. I thought the Arcam delivered a truer picture, better blacks, better saturations, the whites were crisper. The progressive scan was going to be an option upgrade at the time. The sound on the DV-88 was better than the DV-37 but the difference in the soundstage and the clarity on the PMDT was just startling. Talk to David at Peachtree Acoustics about the Arcam, he's in Mount Pleasant, SC 843-881-2387
I've viewed many players (Toshiba 3006, Toshiba 5109, Toshiba 6200, Denon DVD-3000, Pioneer DV-09, Sony DVP-S7000) via my front projection setup and 3 rear projection sets. The differences in picture quality are marginal. Some of the players have more artifacts than others (especially the non-progressive units), but most people wouldn't even notice this. All are plenty enjoyable to watch.
rich, sounds like you have had a lot of experience with DVD players.
have you had any first-hand experience with EAD's Theatrevision P ?
